During Theory the Junior class had the privilege of watching demonstrations by make up artist Tommy Gomez and a facial demo Junior instructor Sheryl Cloud.

Sheryl used this time to demonstrate a mulit-step facial showing all her tips and tricks...make sure you pay attention because your going to need this for stateboard!!!!

Tommy used Nikki Minaj as his make up inspiration on our student Alicia Hunter and it was incredible. Strong eyebrows and amazing pink lips. There were so many makeup artist "secret" tips and tricks revealed that the students we so excited about so that they could start getting some ideas put together for their annual student soiree.

Blog Post: Dallas Academy students go to the Art Institute of Dallas for an incredible photo shoot.

Dallas Academy students and instructors teamed up with Young Park, a photography student from the Art Institute of Dallas and Ashley Kim a fashion stylist and put together a great collaboration of work! The Dallas academy is filled with so much talent and creativity and as a team the instructors and staff are always looking for different ways to help the students express their burning creativity. Well last night the students got a chance to do just that with Young Park, a photography student at the Art Institute of Dallas and Ashley Kim, a fashion student from UNT. Young had wonderful visions for the 3 models that she wanted to use in her portfolio. Those visions were brought to life by her amazing photography skills and the talent of our students.

Allison Bullard and Shawnee Cana worked their magic on two models using loose waves for a vintage 40-50's feel and another had a very mod feeling using slicked back ponytails with intricate finishes.

Alba Azur applied some incredibly stunning and impactful make up to complete the total look for pictures that belong in any current fashion magazine. Good Job Team!!!

The Dallas Academy has teamed up with the Marine Toys for Tots program in hopes of bringing a little joy to tots this holdiay season.

At the request of students who want to help with charity events the Dallas students and staff have found multiple ways to help others this season. It started with a 2 week food drive for the North Texas Food Bank and the students wanted to continue the spirit of giving and helped organize Toys for Tots. To enocourage toy donations the Dallas Academy is offering clients 10% off services and retail with a dontation of a new unwrapped toy.

It's time to Give Back

Hunger!!!

For many of us, the holidays bring thoughts of cheerful gatherings, gift giving and going back for seconds. But for thousands of North Texas kids, families and seniors, all that comes to mind is "Where will I find my next meal?"

Families who once prepared a lavish feast are now skipping dinner. Kids who, just last year, were asking for the newest toy are now walking to school hungry. And elderly couples, recently enjoying retirement, are now choosing between paying bills and putting food on the table.

This holiday season TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy has combined forces with the North Texas Food Bank to CUT OUT HUNGER and would like to invite you to participate.

The Dallas Academy is hosting a food

drive for the North Texas Food Bank

and will be collecting non-perishable

food items November 1st to the 17th.

So please stop by donate some items

In light of Pure Education, Tuesday July 26th was truely an educational evening for part of the DFW metroplex. The staff of Park and Preston, Galleria, Vista Ridge,Collin Creek, Firewheel and the Dallas academy had the privilage of taking their education to the next level by watching demonstrations by special guest Joseph Marzioli and the incredibly talented members of the Toni&Guy core artistic team and presentations by amazing salon and academy education teams.

..... And guess what .......

There was a great representaton from the Dallas Academy!!!!! Always continuing their growth as hairdressers and educators Jeff Ivison, Amy Allen and Yvonne Mascolo prepared 3 fantastic presentation models to represent their progressions from the REFLECTIVE collection. The team worked together to form a collective vision for each models total look.

This incredible event was a true representation of Pure Education!!!!!!!

After only 7 weeks of school the Sophomore

class showcased their skills with fun and extreme fantasy hair!!!!

Even though the competition was tough Emily Price’s money tree came out as the winner for the most impressive fantasy shape.

“ I got the idea from what I want my hair career to be- to grow strong roots and blossom with life ,love and lots of cash money. The birds being life and love, then the roots and branches being my foundation and expansion with Toni & Guy…the leaves and money represent success and riches in the end.”

This week, the spotlight is on Kami Lankenau. Kami Lankenau has traveled all over the world but originated from Sacramento, CA. Kami graduated high school from the International Academy in 2002, when she then left to attend and graduate college from the American Institute of Middle Eastern Studies in 2010. Kami came into the world 26 years ago born to the proud parents of Bill and Lynda Faught and is one of 7 children. Her fellow siblings are Amy, Zach, Lindsey, Kayte, Scott and Ryan. Kami also has a wonderful 2 year old son named Elihu with her husband of 5 years Jeremy.

Ron: "What excited you most about having an opportunity to attend TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy Dallas?"

Kami: "Their Education! It trumps that of any other school I looked at before making my decision."

Ron: "What do you see as potential challenges you're ready to tackle?"

Kami: "My husband Jeremy is in the Army currently overseas and will not return until April 2011 the day after my birthday...so things will be a bit rough until then, but it will help me see what I am really made of."

Ron: "Tell me one quirky personality trait you have that makes you unique."

Kami: "Does my hair count...lol?, Most people say I have an unforgettable laugh!"

Ron: "What is your favorite characteristic about yourself?"

Kami: "BLUNT HONESTY!"

When Kami was younger she wanted to be an Archeologist, Indiana Jones' baby or a Ninja, but because they did not have Nija School she decide to study Archeology.

Some of Kami's hobbies include chess and table tennis, but most are centered on her love for makeup, hair and fashion which explains why her career is taking off right before our very eyes and slowly making her a force to be reckoned with in the near future. The Farmers Branch Chamber of Commerce held its first ever Fall Fashion Show and Luncheon at the Brookhaven Country Club this past September 24^th. CAbi Fashions Consultant Karen Smith and Mayor of Farmers Branch - Honorable Tim O’Hare co-hosted this star-studded event!

While the ladies modeled current fashions of CAbi, the gentlemen wore fine quality golf shirts provided by the Brookhaven Club Golf Shop. This fashion show was graciously co-sponsored by: Karen Smith of CAbi; Devon Faldon, Ron Baker and Kent Movchan of Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy Dallas; Tito Whitfield-Long of Icon Image Consultants; Julie Bartlett of Colour IQ; Jim Germany of GBI Media Video; Steve Crouch of Harvest Moon Photography.

Blog Post: Spotlight Student Profile- Chad Cline

This week the Spotlight is on Chad Cline, a student from the April 2010 Class!

Chad Cline comes from Richardson, TX and is a 1991 graduate of L.V. Berkner High School. The 37-year-old is the son of Bobby Cline and Jerry Merwin and has a sister named Cara. Chad also has an amazing 14 year old daughter named Emily; along with a 10 year old Australian Sheppard named Blue.

What excites Chad the most about the industry is the MONEY!  Besides that, meeting people and making someone feel better about the way they look, helps to build confidence! Chad Cline believes that the potential challenges he is ready to take on after graduation is Continuing Education and someday opening his own salon, but for now the thing that excites him the most about attending the academy is the UH-MAZING Methodology and the Fantastic instructors who are very helpful and hands on.

In case you did not know...In order to concentrate, Chad puckers his lips on rhythm with his shears while cutting hair and wants everyone to know that he LOVES TO FLOSS. When Chad Cline was growing up he wanted to be BATMAN, so he fights crime as a Masked Hero on Mondays.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone to our 1st Official Blog for the DFW Academy Division and turn the Spotlight on Amy Allen, who is currently one of our Student Instructors!
Amy Allen comes from Lewisville, TX and is a 2005 Graduate of Lewisville High School. The 23-year-old is the daughter of Greg Allen whom she resides with along with her brother and sister. Amy has a cat named Leah, two turtles named Little Bill and Savannah and next week she is going to be an Aunt so she is very excited!

When Amy Allen was younger she wanted to be a Marine Biologist or a Graphic Designer. "I took a career test in middle school and it told me that I should be an Aquarium Cleaner or a Cosmetologist, so I guess it was half right!" Amy added that, "I've been a stylist for TONI&GUY for almost 6 years and the Career Opportunities are ENDLESS and one of the reason why I love being a Hairdresser!"
Amy is very shy, but her job forces her to be extrovert and step outside of her comfort zone. Amy's biggest challenge at the Academy is getting up and having to be at work by 8am, but Starbucks really helps!
Going through the Instructor's Program excites Amy Allen because all the Instructors and Staff are always smiling and happy to be at work. Amy enjoys being around the students because they have so much energy and a willingness to learn. She looks forward to sharing information with the students while watching them grow as hairdressers.

Amy's hobbies consist of hanging out with family and friends as much as possible, travel and shopping. She enjoys watching movies and is a huge reality TV junkie. Amy also believes that because she loves hairdressing so much she considers it a hobby as well and has an award to prove it. Amy Allen took home the Avant Gard Award last year at the TONI&GUY 15th Annual Photographic Awards and you can find Amy's work under the Talent Showcase located in the back of the New Puritan Collection.

Amy said that the one thing she wants the world to know about her is, "I like to wear bright pink lipstick and gaudy jewelry because when I am old I want to be like Vivienne Westwood!"
