It was our pleasure to help raise funds for the Foutain Valley Firefighters Association Local 4530 Stashtober 2011. All proceeds will go to the Huntington Beach Firefighters Association Benevolent Fund In support of their firefighter brother Rene Voss.

Who doesn't like food? It is a constant struggle on how to make some of the subjects such as skin not only fun but interesting. With some ingredients found at our local grocery store such as oatmeal ,honey, coco ,and almonds, we were able to make masks and scrubs that not only felt amazing but tasted great too. On Friday, the 8th of July, the South Coast Academy students dominated the runway at the LA Sports Club in Irvine California along with Surf Side Apparel who provided the beautiful models with beach and swim wear. The vibe was high fashion meets urban beach culture. With the runway constructed over water, the students rocked some summer waves! And yes.. that is a griffin artist behind the runway! Thank you to Walk Productions for allowing us the opportunity!

Anna Krissinger has been a part of the hairdressing industry for over 6 years. She was previously employed with TIGI, educating licensed hairdressers all over California and throughout the US. She has had the opportunity to participate behind the scenes at many fashion shows, hair shows and various photo shoots all while working full time behind the chair. Now she has decided to embark on a new journey as a hairdresser by becoming an educator for the TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy, South Coast Plaza. In just four months she has not only become part of our wonderful TONI&GUY family but has inspired everyone around her. She is thrilled, as we all are, to be a part of elevating the industry and mentoring young hairdressers. Anna has earned her title of “Spotlight Teacher of the Month”, and we are honored to have her on our team!

So it is not often that the power and talent of two schools combine. But with the power of three the students were unstoppable. The team work and professionalism represented the Toni and Guy band wonderfully. With little time and 70 plus models the students were able to accomplish a huge task. Many students agreed this was the most fun they have ever had. What a great opportunity!!!!

Many educators believe that students have a preferred learning style and teaching to these styles will increase their educational success. Leah one of the amazing instructors here at South Coast Academy decided to put this to the test. By use of a Auditory / Kinesthetic approach and came up with a fun new way to learn color and tones. Along with our Junior B class let us enjoy, " Levels and Tones ".

May is a busy month for the South Coast Academy students! On Friday, May 13 we will be collaborating with the California State University, Long Beach Design Students to present the Campus Couture runway show, located in the beautiful Carpenter Center of Performing Arts in Long Beach. Then we will be participating in the Rockstars Without Guitars event, where our student’s work, along with tattoos, hair do's and funky shoes will be featured at the Posh Lounge in Orange County on, Sunday, May 15th. Our students will also be styling all of the hair for the first annual O.C. Fashion Week! It will be held in historic downtown Santa Ana at the Yost Theater on May 20, 21, and 22. We are ready for all of the upcoming excitement!

On April 3, 2011, TONI&GUY South Coast Plaza Academy in Costa Mesa, CA
hosted its 1st Annual Student Soiree entitled Electric Jungle.

Electric Jungle was comprised of 8 student created runway shows – STATE OF THE WILD, URBAN ATTITUDE, THUNDER CATS, DIRTY SECRET, CONCRETE, MISS DEMEANOR, TRIBAL COUTURE AND THE UTOPIAN PROJECT.

Once a year TONI&GUY Academies all over the world celebrate creativity by hosting a Student Soiree. The Soiree is a tradition that is one of the most important experiences in the students educational journey as it builds leadership, creativity, technical and artistic skills. All aspects of Electric Jungle were inspired and created by the students of South Coast Plaza.

RUNWAY MAGAZINE, DJ Cyrus, Dice Catering and GOODVIBE DESIGN all contributed to the brilliant success of the event.
