Recently ,one of our students ,Nicholas Chimonas, was in a terrible bicycle accident. He was hit by a car while riding his bike. The entire school (staff and students) had a big fundraiser for Nicholas. One more way we make sure our students know how valuable they are to us, and how much they are ALL loved!!!! Thanks for all your support and donations Boise, YOU ROCK!!
The following is a short summary from Nicholas :
"When I awoke in the emergency room, I had no idea of what happened. The nurse told me that I had been hit by a car and my bicycle was destroyed. I was DEVASTATED! It was a 1970's era Schwinn road bike. I had rebuilt and restored the bike from the ground up. The amount of heart, along with countless hours spent, that I had put into the bicycle was immense. To see the broken frame the next day broke my heart. Also, seeing the various stitches and bruises I had acquired, only made things worse. Needless to say, I was pretty down in the dumps for a while.
When I came back to school, the amount of support, care, and even love that I received from students and faculty alike, was unquestionable and overwhelming. People that I barely knew, were coming up to me and asking what happened and giving their sincerest condolences for my pain and suffering.
Within only a few days, a fundrasier for a new bicycle had already been organized with the full support of the school behind it. I can not even begin to express the rush of gratitude and joy I felt when I was told that the people I was surrounded by ever day, actually cared enough to help me in such a tremendous way.
I now have a brand new 2010 Motobecane Track fixed gear bicycle. This is quite literally my dream bicycle!!! I have this bike all to the thanks of Toni & Guy students and faculty. To attend a school where the people around me genuinely care for my well being is something to behold. I have only the highest appreciation and respect for the humans I am surrounded by each day at Toni & Guy.
