The Bellingham Academy students entered the 4th Annual Reign of Seattle competition and won the trophy + a check for $500.00!!! It was held on Sunday, March 4, 2012 in downtown Seattle and was our Academy's first entrance to this competition! Way to go BELLINGHAM!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS to our students!!!!

Blog Post: Bellingham Academy Instructors get the Photo Session "inside information" from Darian and Rachel

Sunday, Sept. 25 and Monday, Sept. 26 were 2 awesome days for our Academy instructors! Photo shoot tips were given by Darian Bishop (TONI&GUY Artistic Team; 2009 NAHA AvanteGarde winner, Academy Educational Director/Atlanta Academy) and Rachel Brumbaugh (Academy Director/South Coast Plaza, winner of 2011 Photographic Awards: Best Academy Team, Mens, Hairdresser of the Year). Each instructor had their own model to "reconstruct" for the photoshoot on Monday. The shoot took place at Bellingham's American Museum of Radio & Electricity located downtown. Through submission of an essay, 7 students were selected to assist both days, learning invaluable information on the ins and outs of photo shoots. The goal was to create a high fashion, modern look that incorporated vintage clothing pieces with a neutral palate. The vision was to achieve a total feel of a modern editorial look to showcase avant garde hairstyles. Great job, Bellingham Academy Team!!!

Our 4th Annual Student Soiree has been scheduled for Sunday, November 6 at the Alaska Ferry Terminal in Fairhaven!!! Ticket prices are: $10.00 for ages 13+; $6.00 for ages 3 -12; Free Age 2 and under. Tickets will be available soon through the Academy. We have an exciting theme - you don't want to miss it! Good News! Bellingham Academy is now approved for the enrollment of veterans and other eligible beneficiaries under Chapters 30, 32 and 35, Title 38; and Chapters 1606 and 1607, Title 10.

As of Oct 1, 2011, we are approved to accept the Post 9/11 GI Bill (Ch. 33) education benefits which often pay your full tuition, supplies and living expenses. Call Sue (ext. 103) for more information.

Blog Post: Bellingham Academy float wins 1st place and Grand Prize in the Ski to Sea Grand Parade - 5/28/11

For the first time, TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy students entered a float in the Annual Ski to Sea Grand Parade held on 5/28/11 and won 1st place and Grand Prize! The float was designed and created by students using the theme of the annual event that takes place in Bellingham, WA. The 100 mile race starts at Mt. Baker Ski area with cross country skiing to downhill ski, on to running, cylcling, canoeing down the Nooksack River, to mountain biking and ending with kayaking in Bellingham Bay. 500 teams from all over the world participated in the event that marked the 100-year anniversary of the Ski to Sea Race. Our students incorporated the "legs" of the race on the float using none other than "hair"! The bicycle and the snow-capped mountain were made out of hair. It was great to see the students using their creative juices and seeing their efforts win 2 plaques! Congratulations, TONI&GUY Bellingham students!!!

On Saturday August 28, the Bellingham Academy held a Masquerade theme "Prom" from 7-11pm as a fundraiser for soiree. We charged $6.00 for a single and $10.00 for a couple. DJ Eric Axelsson from Sunset Music donated his time, we had a photographer, and refreshments were served. We also crowned a King, Queen, Prince & Princess, who were voted for by the student body. Everyone who attended had a great time.

A very successful Ladies Night Out at the Bellingham Academy. Ladies participated by getting basic manicures, a shampoo with a blow dry, or a simple up-do! Light hors d'oeuvres were enjoyed by all. We raised nearly $600.00 for our annual soiree to be held in March 2011. The majority of our students participtate in this 2 hour event.

On July 9, 2010, some of our staff & students participated in the Annual Bellingham Relay for Life. We were able to raise money for cancer research by offering haircuts for a donation. We also cut off many pony tails to send hair to the Locks of Love. It was a great event & we hope to be involved with it for years to come!!!
