TONI&GUY stylist Mayra Rodriguez shows how to style two versatile holiday party looks.
Look 1: Vintage Inspired Ponytail
Products: Bed Head Queen For a Day, Bed Head Masterpiece, Bed Head Hard to Get, Bed Head Head Rush
Tools: comb, clips, hair tie, boar bristle brush, curl stick, small up do brush, and hair pins
Step 1: Divide the head with a mid-recession horseshoe from in front of the crown. Place a low ponytail at the occipital bone.
Step 2: Above the horseshoe take 1/2 inch horizontal sections. Begin to backcomb a 2 inch base at the root area working from the back towards the front.
Step 3: Smooth the top over the ponytail to create a smooth bouffant silhouette over the ponytail. Using a curl stick, lightly curl the fringe for the final touch.
Transitional Look 2: The Sleek Faux Undercut
Step 1: Maintain the same ponytail base and sectioning from the prior look. Undo the bouffant. Utilizing the backcombing from the bouffant, begin to curl the loose ends away from the face with the curl stick.
Step 2: Curl the loose ends from the ponytail.
Step 3: Once the curls have cooled, gently brush out the curls with the boar bristle at the top and bottom. This will create a nice blend.
Step 4: Create a vertical chignon around the ponytail.
Step 5: At the top of the horseshoe over direct the hair to opposite side, in this case the left. This will create a sleek undercut feel on the opposite side. With the boar bristle brush gently place the curls until you achieve a balance end result inside the curl placement. Begin to pin the ends of the curls under close to the base of the chignon to secure your faux bob silhouette.
TONI&GUY teams up with beauty lifestyle blogger Teni Panosian of MissMaven.com to create the perfect fall color using a soft balayage technique with caramel and milk chocolate highlights.
Technique Description: Softness and strength is created by utilizing a balayage zig-zag placement, alternating a light chocolate and caramel tone.
Surface layering is detailed by utilizing a placement weave applying the color from mid-shaft to ends. Face Framing is detailed with a textured weave.
Step 1: (Sectioning) Take a radial parting from the ear across the crown to the other ear. The back is subdivided with a central vertical parting. Three section are created at the front of the head by taking two horizontal parallel partings at high recession to the radial, creating a rectangle on top and two side sections.
Step 2: A diagonal zig-zag placement is utilized in the back and side sections, alternating a chocolate and caramel tone.
Step 3: The top rectangle is worked with a Placement Weave at the crown, applying the color from mid-shaft to ends.
A Placement Weave is created by taking 2-3 weaves within a subsection of hair, leaving equal amounts of natural hair behind. This weaving technique creates a thick balayage highlight, while the method of application creates softness.
Step 4: Face framing is detailed with a textured weave. A texture weave is created by taking 4-6 weaves within a subsection of hair, leaving equal spaces of natural hair. This weave will help create contrast while maintaining softness around the face.

With fall in full swing, it's time to kiss to your sun tinted locks goodbye and welcome warmer subtle tones. This fall change is inspired by balayage and auburn tones. Unlike foils, balayage is a hair coloring technique where the color is painted on, giving the color tech more freedom and color can be place more precisely. “From champagne to mahogany tones, auburn is such a beautiful and workable hair color for autumn because it’s flattering on variety of skin tones and complements the color palette for your fall wardrobe.” TONI&GUY Technical Director Samantha Finley.
There are a variety of ways to incorporate auburn into your existing hair color for fall. 1. All over dimensional color – Work with a couple of contrasting tones of auburn to create depth and an all over dimensional color for fall. TONI&GUY Collection look: Lola from Divert 2. Soft balayage - If you have an existing ombre, play with the placement for a variation on an existing trend. Soften up the transition or add some soft panels around the face. TONI&GUY Collection look: Isabelle from Here&Now Note: The technique used in Here&Now is an ombre technique however, can be used in a balayage technique as a variation of the original.3. Fringe color – Add a some auburn highlights or low lights to your fringe to frame your face. TONI&GUY Collection look: TONI&GUY Collection look: Margaux from Freedom4. Under color – Add a shade of auburn to the under layer of your haircut for peekaboo look that’s bold but low maintenance. TONI&GUY Collection look: Monique from Divert

TONI&GUY Cosmetic Director Tommy Gomez answers your "Frequently Asked Questions" about wedding beauty & bridal makeup!
Q: What's the best way to conceal dark circles?
Tommy: The best way to conceal dark circles around eyes is to begin by using an eye cream as a base to plump the skin which makes the veins underneath less visible. Next make sure to use a concealer with a yellow undertone, this will help neutralize the purple color of the dark circles. Finish off by applying a light (in density not shade) powder to seal in the concealer. I prefer to use Kiehl's Eye Cream Treatment, TIGI Cosmetics Cream Concealer and the TIGI Cosmetics Powder Foundation.
Q: How can I make lips look fuller?
Tommy: You can make lips look full by using a lip liner to define the top two curves on the top lip first. Fill in the rest of the lip with the same shade lip stick or lip liner. Apply a light gloss on top of the lip stick. For even more definition, add a natural skin tone shadow under the lower lip using a med sized makeup brush. For weddings, I would suggest using a lip color that pops like red or on the other spectrum, use a natural looking nude lip and focus on the eyes. Choose the eyes or the lips to be a focal point and work from there.
Q: How can make skin glow but not look greasy?
Tommy: I finish off every bridal makeup look with a finishing powder that sets the foundation while creating an illuminating glow around the face. I prefer to use NARS Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder because it diffuses light and adjusts to knew sources of light throughout the day so it looks great in any lighting.
Q: How do I keep eye makeup from streaking & smuding?
Tommy: Make sure to use good eye primer and apply lightly. Make sure to wipe or blow off excess powder when applying and don't be afraid to clean up the eye makeup with a Q-tip.
Q: What is your favorite color palette right now for bridal beauty?
Tommy: My favorite color palette right now is the Love Affair, TIGI Cosmetics High Density Quad Shadow. It's perfect to create delicate and natural looking beauty!
